Friendship and support for one another – CWA Somersby

We consider Friendship and support for one another as one of the main strengths of our Branch, which aligns with the CWA Mission being:

“Women supporting women with kindness to create positive change”

…and if we were asked what the members of our branch were good at, we would have to say we love talking, whether it be talking with friends, or having a chat over a cuppa whilst enjoying our crafting.

We are all about friendship, companionship, community and connection.

At CWA Somersby, we work to support both the local Primary School, and Kariong High School. In turn, both Schools support the CWA Land Cookery Competition and Agriculture and Environment Competitions in the Children’s Division. We enjoy a diverse range of handicrafts. We enjoy Fundays with our Branch Members and also hold a Lunch Day where community members come together.

Local markets have been a great opportunity to showcase the wonderful handicrafts and baking created by members. Through the sale of these items, this enables us to raise funds, so we can support the many worthwhile community charities and causes.

Are your interests baking and handicraft or learning about international cultures and lifestyles. Or maybe our agriculture and environment, and perhaps just to meet like-minded ladies in a social and very friendly manner. Then we have something for you. But be aware, membership with Somersby CWA Branch brings lots of fun and laughter, encouragement and occasionally stepping “outside the square”.

Would you like to join our branch of CWA that has a very long history? Then come along and join us at the School of Arts Hall Wisemans Ferry Rd, Somersby. (next to Somersby Primary School). We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 1pm, and new members of any age are welcome.

Perhaps you may be thinking of joining the CWA.

There are a diverse range of activities for you to be involved in, offering something for everyone:

There is an annual study of International, Agriculture and Environmental topics which offer an opportunity to share your knowledge (and research with our ladies).
You may be keen to meet with like-minded members on cultural subjects, such as photography, story writing, painting, and arts and crafts.
Our cookery, handicrafts and recycling items have become the staple of our fundraising efforts.

Competitions are also held within the CWA and are carried out annually to enable you the opportunity to compete and learn, at both Branch and State levels. A number of these competitions are also open to non-members, an ideal opportunity for you family and non-family to join in as well.

Perhaps you are a fabulous organiser. Maybe you have retired yet still feel you have much more to give? Do you have skills to take on an office bearer role and represent our branch as a Delegate, to attend conferences, and to vote for motions to be presented to parliament, so we can better the community.

And last but not least, to have fun and make lifelong friends.

So come along, have a cuppa and a chat and join us at Somersby, we look forward to meeting you.
