Home to an active and engaged membership involved in many aspects of the CWA of NSW – Hornsby and District CWA

Our branch is home to an active and engaged membership involved in many aspects of the CWA of NSW.

We consider the strengths of our branch to be ‘Friendship and support for one another’, and we show this by how we share our knowledge and skills with each other, especially with our newer members. We also have some amazing cooks and handcrafters, with members showcasing their impressive handicraft and cookery skills through contributions to our market stalls, and participation in annual CWA competitions, where we are active and engaged, and very successful.

Our Hospital Support team visits local hospitals with emergency packs for patients, and maternity packs for new mothers. We have also donated essential equipment to enhance care in the Children’s Ward and Emergency Department.

At Hornsby and District Branch, we are proud of our strong fundraising record, which enables us to support a wide range of organisations and charities. Our activities include;

  • catering for monthly Council Citizenship Ceremonies,

  • hosting three local market stalls and an annual Christmas Market, and

  • operating a café and jam stall at several weekend craft exhibitions.

We are very proud of our jams, which are also available at two local retail outlets.

As a Branch, we value friendship, community, and genuine support for one another.

General business meetings on the 2nd Friday of each month. This is when we plan upcoming social and fundraising activities and hear updates from our Handicraft, Cookery, Agriculture & Environment, International, and Cultural officers. These presentations educate and inspire members as we explore CWA annual areas of study.

Our second meeting, held on the 4th Friday of each month, is a relaxed Craft, Coffee and Chat morning. Members come together to work on personal projects, share ideas, or simply enjoy each other’s company.

Regular Meetups

2nd and 4th Friday, 9.30am

Regular meetings are held at the St Peters Church Hall 207 Peats Ferry Rd Hornsby on the second and fourth Friday each month at 9.30am.

Perhaps you may be thinking of joining the CWA.

There are a diverse range of activities for you to be involved in, offering something for everyone:

  • There is an annual study of International, Agriculture and Environmental topics which will offer an opportunity to share your knowledge (and research with our ladies).
  • You may be keen to meet with like-minded members on cultural subjects, such as photography, story writing, painting, and arts and crafts.
  • Our cookery, handicrafts and recycling items have become the staple of our fundraising efforts.

Competitions are also held within the CWA, and are carried out annually to enable you the opportunity to compete and learn, at both Branch and State levels. A number of these competitions are also open to non-members, an opportunity for you family and non-family to join in as well.

Perhaps you are a fabulous organiser, or maybe you have retired yet still feel you have much more to give, with skills to take on an office bearer role and represent our branch as a Delegate,  to attend conferences, and to vote for motions to be presented to parliament, so we can better the community.

And last but not least, to have fun and make lifelong friends.

……………………………….

So come along and say Hi. We have the jug on ready for you.

Held on the 4th Friday of the month, the Coffee, Craft and Chat morning is an informal gathering offering a wonderful chance for skills to be shared, friendships cultivated and coffee to be consumed. We would love to meet you.
