Welcome to The Somersby Branch

Would you like to join a branch of CWA that has a very long history? Then come along to the School Of Arts Hall Wisemans Ferry Rd Somersby (next to Somersby Primary School). We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 1pm.

Whether your interests are baking, handicraft, learning about international cultures and lifestyles, our agriculture and environment, or just to meet like-minded ladies in a social and very friendly manner, we have something for you. But be aware, your membership with Somersby CWA Branch brings with it lots of fun and laughter and occasionally stepping “outside the square”.

The school has a close association with the CWA members as students are mentored and encouraged to gain skills in the kitchen. These boys and girls are proudly presenting their entries into the cookery competition.

Our strong involvement with the little Somersby School has members going into the school and teaching senior students the art of baking. This programme has recently seen our introduction of this programme into the nearby Kariong High School. We are very pleased that some of our students have entered the CWA Land Baking Competition and had success at both district and state levels.

Local markets have been a great opportunity to showcase the wonderful handicrafts and baking created by members and enables us to raise funds for many worthwhile community charities and causes.

We like to do lunches. Australia Day, Melbourne Cup, Branch International Days, Cultural Days, we do them all with great enthusiasm. So come along and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Upcoming Events

A date for your diary. Come on out over the June 12 – 13th weekend and wander around the Central Coast hinterland for the 2021 Harvest Festival.
Wander on past the CWA branches from the Central Coast who are holding stalls at 3 different venues on the trail.
Somersby Branch will be located in the Somersby Hall on Saturday 12th June and offering a delicious assortment of devonshire teas, home made cakes and preserves as well as some craft items.
There will be other artisans also in this hall.

Stole was champion piece of handicraft at  our  recent Group judging.

So many skills and talents are bought into CWA by members to share amongst the members.

Recently the women and some husbands of the CWA Mountain branches; Somersby, Peats Ridge and Mangrove Mountain Evening celebrated together with a Christmas gathering to farewell the year.  It was lovely to see all the friendly smiling faces enjoying a meal together at the Mangrove Mountain Community Hall. The delicious hot luncheon was enjoyed by all.
A historic photograph was presented to a long standing family in the district. A Trivia game to stretch our minds and memories and a lovely Christmas story read to us by Christine.
With lots of talking, laughing and catch ups it was a great way to end 2020.
