• In 2019 we were successful in our application for a State Government Grant which we used to install a new kitchen. We hope to work in conjunction with the garden to use produce to demonstrate how to preserve food to avoid landfill.
• We also received a further grant from the Commonwealth to enable us to update our meeting room facilities and IT capabilities.
• We fundraise for many local charities e.g. Riding for the Disabled, Camp Breakaway and Central Coast Kids in Need, as well as for medical research, educational scholarships and drought relief.
• We currently hold fundraising stalls at Bateau Bay Shopping Centre and Lakeside Shopping Centre and promote cookery via branch competitions and cake/pickle/jams stalls at Bunnings Warehouse, the Central Coast Regional Show and the annual Carnevale at The Art House Wyong.
• We take part in the McGrath Foundation Pink Stumps Day where we raised more than $1000 for breast cancer nurses.
• We work with other branches to raise awareness of CWA on the coast e.g. International Women’s Day which will be held at Tuggerah Westfield in 2020 and the Central Coast Regional Show
• We work with other community groups e.g. Long Jetty Produce Swap, Tuggerah Lakes Art Society, Shoebox Revolution and The Entrance Public School to give help where we can and the Lions Club Killarney Bateau Bay to provide the service of Christmas Gift Wrapping at Bateau Bay Shopping Centre.
• We provide emergency toiletry packs to Wyong geriatric ward and drain bags for breast cancer patients.
• We study at different country each year. This year it was Papua New Guinea, so we hold a function inviting other branches and community groups for lunch where we provide the local cuisine.
• Each year as part of Agriculture and Environment we study Flora and Fauna. This year it will be the Waratah, Whales and the ‘foe’ will be wild dogs. The primary product is honey.
• We have a new activity – The Long Jetty Produce Swap. This is an established community group whose joint co-ordinators Ben Hunt and Atlanta Camilleri will still run the activity. Follow on Facebook – Long Jetty Produce Swap.
So as you can see, we are a very active group of ladies who come together to share our skills and knowledge and learn more about our community and environment.
It’s about friendship; about community; it’s about connection. Why not join us today.
