Hornsby & District Branch

Welcome to The Hornsby & District Branch

Located at the southernmost point of the Northumberland Group, but the Northern most point of Sydney suburbs, the Hornsby & District Branch encompasses the best of both worlds. By embracing and functioning in a busy metropolitan hub which brings many nationalities and cultures together whilst still retaining the natural beauty of the surrounding national parks and bushland, our members are faced with a very diverse membership base.

Here at the Hornsby and District Branch, sharing and teaching new skills to ladies who have never had the opportunity to engage in this type of activity before, while still being fully involved in the community in which we are based, is a win/win for all members. We consider Friendship and support for one another the main strength of our Branch, and if we were asked what the members of our branch were good at, we would have to say we have some amazing cooks, some amazing handcrafters, and we are very successful at fundraising which allows us to support many organisations. Our branch participates in everything that the CWA has to offer together with many community events which include:

  • Monthly catering for Council Citizenship Ceremonies
  • We run several Street Stalls each year
  • We run a Christmas Market each year
  • Our Jam (we are very proud of our Jam) is sold through 2 retail outlets
  • We also cater & sell our Jam at several Craft Exhibitions each year.

As well as the above, Drought Relief Fundraising has been a large focus of the branch with money also being channelled into medical research projects. We also do Local chats on community radio which helps keep the public informed with what we have happening.

We are about friendship, community and connection

Regular Meetups

2nd and 4th Friday, 9.30am

Regular meetings are held at the St Peters Church Hall 207 Peats Ferry Rd Hornsby on the second and fourth Friday each month at 9.30am.

Perhaps you may be thinking of joining the CWA.

There are a diverse range of activities for you to be involved in, offering something for everyone:

  • There is an annual study of International, Agriculture and Environmental topics which will offer an opportunity to share your knowledge (and research with our ladies).
  • You may be keen to meet with like-minded members on cultural subjects, such as photography, story writing, painting, and arts and crafts.
  • Our cookery, handicrafts and recycling items have become the staple of our fundraising efforts.

Competitions are also held within the CWA, and are carried out annually to enable you the opportunity to compete and learn, at both Branch and State levels. A number of these competitions are also open to non-members, an opportunity for you family and non-family to join in as well.

Perhaps you are a fabulous organiser, or maybe you have retired yet still feel you have much more to give, with skills to take on an office bearer role and represent our branch as a Delegate,  to attend conferences, and to vote for motions to be presented to parliament, so we can better the community.

And last but not least, to have fun and make lifelong friends.

……………………………….

So come along and say Hi. We have the jug on ready for you.

Held on the 4th Friday of the month, the Coffee, Craft and Chat morning is an informal gathering offering a wonderful chance for skills to be shared, friendships cultivated and coffee to be consumed. We would love to meet you.
